New York, New York – an architectural discovery

Thursday 20 June 2013

Venue Blackpool Football Club Hotel

Bustling, noisy, vibrant New York epitomises the modern city at its best (and at its worst!). The lectures will be split into three related themes – The Great Beginning; The Age of the Skyscaper; and New York Galleries, such as Frank Lloyd Wright’s Guggenheim Museum, and its Art.

Our lecturer Andrew Davies is an extra-mural tutor for London, Essex and The Open University. He is also the author of nine books, including “The East End Nobody Knows”. Andrew is a frequent contributor to radio and television. He has lectured all over the world, and also organises walks to complement his lectures.

We have booked a new venue for this event – the new Blackpool 4-star Football Club Hotel on Bloomfield Road, Blackpool. The Conference Centre offers excellent facilities for our Special Interest Day and also, temptingly, a carefully chosen New York-style light lunch by Paul Rowley. A tour of this 2013 Design Award-winning building has also been offered, overlooking the football pitch itself.
