Reflections on Water by Cumbria Printmakers

23 March – 19 May 2024

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of our Cumbrian landscape, this exhibition delves into the many facets of water, an elemental force that has long captivated the human imagination.

As we explore the beauty of water, we celebrate the unifying and connective power of water within our artistic community.  In the spirit of Ruskin’s call to environmental stewardship, which serves as a guiding light, our artists share their views on water not merely as a subject but as a source for profound reflection and responsibility.  Cumbria Printmakers are a group of artists based in the Lake District who, despite working from separate studios in a challenging geographical area, come together, to contribute to the group, helping each other develop as artists, from professionals to the inexperienced.  The artists utilise a variety of printmaking disciplines: screenprint, etching, drypoint, linocut, monotype, blind embossing, collagraph.  As champions of printmaking, Cumbria Printmakers inspire and advocate through workshops, exhibitions and events across the county and beyond.
