After the Archive: the Grundy x SIGNAL

SIGNAL and Grundy Art Gallery present After the Archive – a multi-disciplinary group exhibition showcasing emerging artistic voices from Barrow and Blackpool.
Bringing together two inter-generational cohorts of artists, archivists, adventurers, community workers and young explorers, the project draws inspiration from the remarkable Sankey Photography Archive – an expansive visual record of life across the North West spanning more than 70 years.
Led by artists Jack Brown and Tina Dempsey, participants have taken part in a year long series of workshops delving into the archive and developing their own creative responses.
This exhibition is part of Sankey: Lives Through the Lens, Signal’s heritage project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
