Brian Spooner was born in Manchester in 1947 and moved to Lytham St Annes when he was four years old. He trained at Blackpool School of Art and the Ruskin School of Art, Oxford University. He taught drawing and painting at Blackpool and The Fylde College for 34 years.
Brian’s main interest is in big vista landscapes in which he tries to capture the immediacy of a mood, a sky or a weather front, rather than hold a mirror image up to it. The starting point for these is usually on-the-spot sketches made on walks, later developed into larger works in the studio.
